Tasting Note:  Chenin Blanc/Viognier 2010 by Percheron

Named after a breed of horses which used to plough fields in the South African Cape, there is nothing horsey about this Chenin Blanc/Viognier blend by Percheron.  As it’s the 2010 vintage, the palate is very fresh, with the Viognier lending some subtle, rounded, stone-fruit flavours to the limey, citrus fruit dominating the palate.  Fairly straight-forward but with floral, pear drop aromas on the nose and a touch of minerality on the finish, it’s pleasantly surprised me.
